Lean spot/Service Bulletin 35

The factory ECU is mapped wrong, resulting in a lean mixture at “low” RPMs. My experience is “low” means “below 4000 RPM”.

Suzuki knows about the problem and issued a service bulletin. There's a post about it at VSRI forums. I've been in contact with Nate at Beaverton Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki since a couple days after I bought the bike. Suzuki requires that their “regional service manager” give the OK before the work is done. We're waiting on him, still…

Real wheel alignment/spacers

A lot of DL1000 owners have claimed that replacing a couple rear wheel spacers with custom ones, shifted 2mm, smooths gear changes, fixes uneven/premature wear, etc. Rick on the VSRI forum sells replacement spacers in an exchange program. I need to investigate whether this is an actual problem on my bike. For $35, it may be worth trying, regardless.
